Citizenship Law & Residence Permits
As Greece is a member of the European Union, Greek nationals holding Greek passports, as well as individuals holding Greek residence permits may freely travel in the European Union. At Legal Trust we assist clients with their applications and we undertake the whole procedure for obtaining their Greek citizenship that leads to a Greek/EU passport. We also advise, assist and represent clients in acquiring permanent residence permits (Golden Visa) through the purchase of real estate property in Greece. Results matter and we bring them!
A child of a Greek person obtains the Greek nationality at birth. It is only required to prove that he/she is the origin of a Greek. Even if the parents of the individual have not obtained Greek citizenship, if he/she may prove through public documents that one of his/her ancestors was Greek, then he/she may be entitled to Greek Citizenship. Once the individual has obtained Greek citizenship, he/she may issue a Greek-EU passport and travel and work anywhere in the European Union.
Those who are not an origin of a Greek, may also acquire Greek citizenship through naturalization. This is based on a long term residency in Greece.
According to Greek Law, a citizen of a third country may obtain a residence permit through the purchase of real estate property in Greece at least at the amount of 250.000 Euros. The individual may purchase the property under his name or under a legal entity of which he is the owner in 100%. Such residence permit is renewable every 5 years as long as he remains owner of the property. The above citizen may be accompanied by the members of his family, i.e. the spouse, children under the age of 21, the applicant’s parents and the spouse’s parents. Their residence permit is also renewed every 5 years as it is renewed and expires at the same time with the residence permit of the above person who purchased the property
